I was hooked on dichroic glass when Shellie Carder, of Shelden Studio, came into my sister’s coffeehouse with a tray of dichroic glass cabochons, and asked me which one I liked!

Oh my goodness!! Which ONE???? They were all so beautiful and unique, how can you choose just one??

I road along with Shellie to an Octoberfest in Columbus, Ohio, that year…

Shellie offered to teach me how to wire wrap and fuse glass. She taught me about all aspects of her business. Shellie took me down to William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in Young Harris, Georgia, to take classes in wire wrapping and silversmithing. She wanted me to expand my knowledge and talent by taking classes from several artists. She encouraged me to find my own place among all the wonderful, talented artists she introduced me to. Shellie has also taken me to Chicago to learn Silver Art Clay. Jewelry made with silver clay that when fired, turns to 99.9% silver. She took me to Corning, New York, to take classes on glass fusion from the best artists in the country.

She has been my best friend from the start. Always encouraging me to expand my talent, and learn all I can. She has introduced me to so many wonderful artists and vendors over the years. We have a special expanded sisterhood, encouraging each other, and sharing techniques and designs. They brought me into their fold, and helped me become the artist I am today. I now am able to teach others the crafts that I’ve learned. I teach beginning classes in wire wrap, glass fusion, and basic lampworking.

We continue to travel the road together, selling our dichroic glass and jewelry. Shelden Studio is a major glass fusion studio, offering dichroic glass to artists all over the country and beyond. Keeping prices very reasonable for people to work with dichroic glass. We are located on Grand Island, in New York. I have been blessed to be a part of the studio.

We offer free-form cabochons, rectangular dichroic glass pieces with one and two holes, for beading bracelets and necklaces, and grooved dichroic glass pendant and earring sets for artists to create their own
